Estridge graduated from Kenny High School in 1955 and the University of Florida in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Contributions to Computer Science
Estridge worked at IBM where he was the leader of the PC division where he created the original IBM PC. This earned him the nickname "father of the IBM PC". By the time he left this division, it had over 10,000 employees and earned over $4.5 billion in annual revenue. Estridge also worked in the army for some time, where he designed a radar system using computers. Philip created the first ever PC in 1981, which was the greatest accomplishment of his life. His life was unfortunately cut short by the crash of Delta airlines flight 191 at the age of 48.
